When is it the Best Time to Install a Fence?

Many homeowners question when they should install a fence in their yard. While this is a good question, there is really no right or wrong answer. The only thing to ask is whether or not the time you’re planning is the best for the contractor you’re hiring to put it up for you. They can provide you with more insight regarding the fence you’d like to have installed, and whether or not they’re able to do so.

Winter

Winter is never a good time to do many of the outside renovations you’d like to do. For instance, putting up a fence would take a lot of man power since there needs to be poles put into the ground. The ground is much to hard to do this.

Spring

The spring is the perfect time to install a fence into the yard. However, there is quite a rush to have this done when you hire a contractor for the job. Planning ahead, and making sure to book your date with them ahead of time is essential. The ground is just soft enough to start the digging, and to provide the right panels across the yard.

Summer

Summer is also a good time to install a fence. The ground is very warm and able to be dug into easily. In addition, the weather is beautiful, allowing all that are installing the fence to do so comfortably. This however, is also a time when many people are choosing to have their fences installed, which means a longer line when you call them up and want to have them come out.

Fall

The fall is the perfect time to install a fence due to the fact that not only is the ground still warm and soft enough for the poles, but it is also a time when there is less of a rush. You’re able to have the contractors come right out and do the job that needs to be done easily and effectively.

Who knew that all of these months could be ideal to install a fence in your yard? You’re able to make the most of what is being provided when you’re able to have a fence that can block out the outside traffic and noise. No longer will those neighbors bother you. Speak with us here at Premier Fence to set up a time this spring or summer to have your fence installed.

The Best Fences to Contain Children in the Yard

If you have small children, then letting them play outside is something that is a must. You have to ensure that they’re able to go out back and play safely, without an issue. However, when you do not have a yard then many things can happen. Not only can they become hurt if they wander off, but someone can see that they're out back and might wander over to them. Safety should always come first, and this is why there are highly rated fences to place in your yard to keep your children in, and anything and everyone out.

Wooden Fences

Wooden fences are more durable than other types of fencing on the market. They provide a sturdy, durable fence around the property that you outline. Not only that, but children cannot climb on them and they cannot knock them down. Generally, when you put up a wooden fence, you can also stain or paint it to match the outside of your home, so it can also be a nice curb appeal factor.

Vinyl Fences

These are ideal when you want a smooth surface, though they cost more. They can not only protect the children’s hands if they touch them but when properly installed, they can be durable and long lasting. You want to check into the colors available to match your home, but know they can also keep your children safe inside the yard.

Privacy Fences

Privacy is a big factor when it comes to having children in the yard. You want to make sure that they’re not seen from the other side. With a 6 to 8 foot fence, you can make this happen, keeping everyone out of the yard that shouldn’t be there. In addition to this, the children cannot get over the fence and if it is that high, then the lock on the doors are also high. They cannot reach them and let themselves out while back there. This makes privacy fences one of the best invention out there.

As mentioned before, safety should always come first and with the best fence on the market that is correctly installed, you no longer have to worry about a thing. You can make sure that you’re covered when it comes time to let the kids out to play in the sunshine. Enjoy your privacy fence, and know that no one can see in, and the kids cannot get out.

Planning the Perfect Fence for Your Home for Spring Time

The spring is when many projects start up, and a lot of homeowners are making the chances on the outside of their homes. Whether it is landscaping, siding, roofing or putting up a new fence; there are always projects to be done.

When considering a fence for the home that you own, consider some of the options out there and then decide which one would be the most ideal for your particular home situation. You never know what might and might not work when it comes to the fence outside of your home.

Material

There are a few different materials that you can choose from when it comes to a fence. You either want to go with something strong and durable such as a wood material, or something that can make a blockade but doesn't have that strong solid appeal such as chain link. If you want something beautiful then vinyl or composite could do the job around your home.

Height

The height of the fence matters, as well. Generally, privacy fences run around 6 to 8 feet tall. While, other more common fences are 4 to 5 feet. You’re able to have even just a two foot tall fence if you’re trying to keep small animals out. Get a fence for the specific purpose that you have and make sure you’re within codes for the town you live in.

Style

The style of the fence means a lot when it comes to how it looks outside of your home. You want something with designs, such as lattice for a more beautiful appeal, or you want something you can get in different colors to match the home. There are many customized options you can go with, depending on how you’d like the fence to look and feel.

Should My Posts Be Set in Concrete?

This is a fairly common question that so many people ask. Whether the company that is installing it is there or not, or you just want to know now - yes, you should have posts set in concrete for the fence project that is being done.

Without having a proper concrete footer on each post, the fence is not going to be structurally sound. It will eventually sag, break or fall over. There is an exception to this fence rule, however which is concrete shouldn’t be used if you’re installing a pasture fence or a split rail fence.

Don't Forget!

Keep in mind that the concrete is not just thrown into the ground. There are a lot of considerations that have to be taken in before this is done. Usually, the company knows these considerations before they decide to move forward, but ensuring that the temperature and weather is right, that they are the proper depth and the location of the posts is all ready to go then you’re able to have a strong, sturdy fence.

Make sure that you’re complying to all codes and regulations for the fence that you want to have put in your yard. In addition to this, it is important to speak with the professionals regarding what they say the rules and regulations are. Generally, the fence companies know a lot about what may, or may not be needed for the fence in the area.

One last tip before heading off, is to ensure that gravel is placed within the post hole. You want to make sure that it is able to stand strong - even with the concrete in place - against any weather elements that might come into play. When the fence posts are strong, the rest of the fence will be able to withstand anything that they come into contact with.

Speaking with us here regarding the fence posts, or any other fencing related questions can put you in the right position to choose the best fence for the yard that you have. We can advise you on what needs to be done, and which is the best one for you to go with when it comes down to it. Feel good about putting in a new fence, we can ensure that it is structurally sound.

Vinyl and Composite Fencing: The Pros and Cons

There are pros and cons to everything that is purchased and placed throughout the home. It is a fact of life, but knowing when the cons cross the line to going over the pros is when you decide which purchase would be the best to go with. Vinyl and composite fencing are both popular choices throughout the fencing industry, and they both come with many pros, and very little cons. However, in order for you to make the decision on which to go with, you have to know these for yourself.

We will break down the pros and cons of vinyl and composite fencing for you…

Vinyl Fencing

Pros -

Just about maintenance free since you can wash it down every now and again with hose water and mild soap, while not having to worry about painting or sanding it.

This material does not split, splinter or crack, no matter what the outside elements are or what it might come into contact with throughout the years.

The vinyl material is immune to insects, rot and a wide range of other issues that might happen.

Cons -

Colors may fade with time, and may be limited depending on what colors you’re thinking of purchasing and then adding to the yard.

Is more costly than other types of fencing materials on the market, for example: wood.

Composite Fencing

Pros -

Made from recycled materials that are resistant to rodents, rot and insects.

It looks just like wood, or other materials but without having the cons of the other materials that you can get to fence in your home.

Usually is backed with a 20+ year warranty, allowing you to rest assured knowing it is covered.

Easy to maintain and wipe down for the years that you have it, and it comes in many different colors so you can go with something that easily matches the home.

Cons -

More expansive than other selections of fencing on the markets currently.

The color may fade with time, especially in the areas where the sun hits the fence a lot.

The material is more prone to stains than some of the others.

When you’re ready to get the vinyl and composite fencing that you want to place around your home, leave the job up to the professionals in the fencing field. Try One of These Unique Fence Ideas

When the weather becomes warmer, you generally go outside into the yard to spend some time soaking up the sun and enjoying the outdoor space. However, you probably have neighbors or pets that you have to hook up because there is no barrier around your yard that leads into the general area of the neighborhood. This can be something that is easy to fix with a neat, unique fence idea that not only makes your home stand out a bit more, but it can also provide you with a way to keep your pets in, and neighbors out.

Here are some of the most loved, talked about and unique fence ideas for the year.

Unique Fence Ideas for 2016

Vinyl Fences are not uncommon throughout neighborhoods, however when many think fence, they think a big wood one. Not only is vinyl beautiful and comes in a wide array of colors but you can shape it how you need it to be shaped, and it requires little to no maintenance at all to keep it looking great.

Natural Wood Fences with Lattice are not very popular, but very appealing. They are sturdy, beautiful and have the top lattice part that provides an additional decoration. They can also come in many different wood types, but also can be painted to the specific color wanted.

Block Wooden Fences are rarely heard of, but this provide a more modern, natural look around the property. When specific sized blocks are placed together, and connected or intertwined, this provides a unique pattern for the fence that you have around your property.

Cattails Sculpture Fencing is very unique in the way that it is built and the way that it looks. The fence is made from exactly what it sounds like, cattails. They are woven together to create straight lines down the area of the property to create a very environmentally friendly fence.

Plantation Stick Fencing is neat if you have an older styled home, and want to have the fence there for more aesthetic purposes, rather than for privacy. This fence is made from plain sticks that are stuck into the ground and then connected with twine throughout to create a unique appearance that would go well with an old plantation home.

Thatched Fencing is a big unique because of the fact that it is not made from wood or vinyl and gives a visual appeal that is different from the other options. This is made from a heavier hay material that is thatched together to create a thicker material. Then it is placed in the ground and stands tall. Yet another environmentally good choice for fencing.

Metal Fencing is less heard of because of some of the difficulties you might come across when putting up one of these fences made from this type of material. Metal is not able to stand up to the outside elements without rusting, but it can provide an old rustic appeal that you wouldn't be able to get with the other choices, and it can be a great way to recycle.

The Right Fencing in Your Yard Can Make a Difference

Fencing is an important aspect of any home, whether it is put in the front or the back yard. Choosing the right material, the right color and the right height are all essential on how you'd like your home to be viewed by those that pass by it. Through the right look and feel, you can obtain a different outlook for the home that you have. Ensure that you have something that stands out and is beautiful to you.

Material Choices

Fences come in many different materials, as well. Wood is a nice sturdy fence to have, and it comes in privacy heights, allowing you to keep everything in, or out of the yard. Chain link metal fences are great for keeping things in, and out but they do not provide much privacy because they can be seen through. Vinyl fences are beautiful, have minimal upkeep and come in numerous heights, so you can choose something that matches your home. There are also many others such as aluminum and composite that are provided.

Heights

The height of the fence is important depending on how much privacy you’d like to receive from the fence. Keeping things in, or animals out can also make a difference. They come in eight, six, four and two feet sizes. However, two feet and eight feet are less common due to the fact that two feet does not keep much out, or in and eight feet might be against the town rules and regulations for the height of the fence you can have around your home.

Colors

Colors stand out on the fence of your choice. You can choose from lighter colors such as whites and beiges, light blues and greens. You can also choose darker colors from reds, to natural browns and sage greens. Depending on the color of your home, you might want to find something that matches the outside look and feel of it.

Depending on your specific wants and needs, the look of your home and the maintenance you'd be comfortable with, there is a fence that fits what you want and what would look beautiful around your home once installed.

When you contact us here at Premier Fence and Deck in Murfreesboro, TN; we can help you choose the right fence that fits the home you have, and the look you want. Contact us today to get started on your home’s fencing, and get a quote for the fence you’re considering.
